Johnson Controls Inc. is hiring a Director, Program Management – Sustainable Infrastructure (Remote)

What you will do The Director of Program Management will establish and guide a novel program management office for the North American Sustainable Infrastructure team. This position involves close collaboration with senior leadership, marketing, sales, engineering, finance, and partner teams. The Program Manager will orchestrate program teams throughout solution development, delivery, and service, ensuring each functional group meets business objectives, maintains schedule and budget, and completes designated actions. Additionally, they will develop and potentially represent SI-NA in accountability meetings, presenting comprehensive status updates to diverse stakeholder groups. How you will do it Collaborates strategically with senior leadership and regional functional groups. Determines PMO office direction through comprehensive leadership input. Operates autonomously in resolving challenges and exploring opportunities related to program management. Work encompasses both strategic planning and operational execution. PRINCIPLE DUTIES: • Collaborate with Sustainable Infrastructure and Regional leadership to define PMO scope, budget, schedule, resources, and business cases for internal and external solution opportunities • Partner extensively with all business functions for internal solution development • Conduct team kick-offs, providing comprehensive scope, budget, schedule overviews, and clear team member expectations • Facilitate cross-functional team meetings to track progress, identify challenges, and develop strategic action plans • Enforce JCI's internal solution development process, ensuring team accountability and deliverable completion • Proactively manage issues, risks, and opportunities, supporting team members in overcoming obstacles • Develop detailed program schedules with task assignments, responsibilities, timelines, and completion percentages • Monitor critical path weekly, ensuring schedule adherence and documenting recovery strategies • Manage program expenditures across capital and expense categories, tracking monthly functional spending • Collaborate with leadership, finance, and regional teams to continuously update business case financials LEADERSHIP EXPECTATIONS: • Dynamically adjust communication approaches across diverse situations and cultures • Actively engage and inform stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes • Flexibly modify strategies to meet goals and deadlines • Analyze and derive insights from incomplete data • Construct predictive models and assumptions to address information gaps • Empower team members to make decisive, calculated risks • Proactively identify and eliminate potential success barriers • Clarify individual and collective team contribution impacts • Implement structured risk assessment and mitigation processes What we look for • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field required • Minimum 4+ years program/project management experience • Capable of effective technical communication with executive-level stakeholders • Strong organizational skills in project planning, management, and team development • Proficiency with structured problem-solving methodologies and reporting tools, including Microsoft PowerPoint • Comprehensive understanding of financial principles Who we are Johnson Controls is an equal employment opportunity and affirmative action employer.
