Optum Tech, part of UnitedHealth Group, is hiring a Director of Product to lead the vision, roadmap, and delivery of next-generation healthcare technology. You will focus on interoperability and improving clinical, quality, population health, and value-based care workflows. In this role, you will guide cross-functional teams, shape product strategy, and partner with engineering and market stakeholders to deliver measurable customer and patient impact.
What You'll Do
- Own interoperability portfolio strategy and P&L; make invest/hold/retire recommendations aligned to business strategy.
- Drive strategic and outcome-based roadmaps in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Direct competitive analysis, market & opportunity sizing, and translate insights into portfolio bets and investment priorities.
- Develop positioning & value propositions by segment; align portfolio roadmap to buyer needs and purchase cycles.
- Influence & drive prioritization across the Product Development Roadmap, Product Backlog, and Sprint Backlog.
- Establish KPIs and targets; implement governance tying decisions to customer problems and outcome realization.
- Lead evidence-based decisioning: define learning agendas, instrumentation plans, and experiments.
- Build business cases and capital requests; evaluate trade-offs to prioritize funding and resources.
- Translate product vision into operational designs and scalable architectures; provide high-level requirements and guardrails.
- Monitor industry technology roadmaps and recommend innovation in digital/channels to advance portfolio competitiveness.
- Advocate best practices, processes, and tools for agile product development.
- Partner with Sales & Marketing to shape GTM, forecast, and sales enablement; serve as senior product SME in client pursuits.
- Lead change management at scale; anticipate enterprise impacts, sequence change, and drive adoption across functions.
- Structure and implement governance to ensure persistent connection to the customer problem and measurable resolution of outcomes.
- Own user and customer metrics across multiple products (SUS and NPS).
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of professional experience in healthcare, healthcare tech, or technology sectors.
- 3+ years in a role supporting clinical, quality, population health, or VBC performance optimization in areas such as population health management, stratification, care management, clinical optimization, risk identification, or clinical documentation.
- 3+ years in a product management or technology development role across new product development, launches, market sizing, roadmap creation, and commercial/SaaS product development.
- 3+ years of experience leading highly matrixed, cross-functional initiatives with strong operational structure understanding.
- 2+ years of experience in EMR integrations/interoperability, including SMART on FHIR apps, EMR API integrations, and HIE/ADT integrations.
- Experience integrating 3rd party solutions and internal app enrichments for commercial release in the US healthcare market.
- Ability to travel up to 10% as needed.

- 3+ years managing full product profitability, including revenue, expense, and depreciation.
- 3+ years managing a team of product managers.
- Proven ability to lead product discovery and synthesize market findings into product ideas.
