CORE Community Organized Relief Effort was looking for a Director of Finance

CORE Community Organized Relief Effort is looking for a Director of Finance to lead our global finance function. You will oversee accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and treasury to ensure financial integrity and strategic planning, directly supporting our mission to save lives and strengthen communities in crisis.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and manage the global finance function, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and treasury.
  • Ensure financial integrity, compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements, and timely financial statement preparation.
  • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Oversee cash flow management, banking relationships, and investment strategies.
  • Provide strategic financial analysis and insights to support executive decision-making and organizational growth.
  • Manage and mentor the finance team, fostering professional development and a high-performance culture.
  • Collaborate with department heads to develop and monitor annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors for annual audits and tax filings.
  • Ensure compliance with grant and donor financial reporting requirements.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA or equivalent professional certification.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Extensive experience in nonprofit accounting, including fund accounting and compliance with OMB Uniform Guidance.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Proven experience in financial planning, analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Excellent leadership, team management, and mentoring skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • High level of integrity, ethical standards, and attention to detail.

Nice to Have

  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a related field.
  • Experience working in an international nonprofit organization.
  • Proficiency with financial software and ERP systems.
  • Experience in a remote or distributed work environment.

Team & Environment

You will lead the global finance function and report directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).
