CoreWeave is hiring a Director of Engineering

Responsibilities

  • Help architect, build and scale our foundational Cloud Experience organization
  • Manage multiple teams and managers to define and evolve our public API platform and developer interfaces
  • Lead teams to develop a cohesive, reliable CoreWeave Cloud API that becomes the foundation for all developer touchpoints (Console, SDKs, CLI, IaC), enabling customers to self-serve provisioning and operations at scale
  • Work in partnership with design and product to deliver a best-in-class console user experience for both external customers and internal administrators
  • Lead an IaC-first approach to enable day-one Terraform support for new GA products, partnering with DX and Docs to deliver high-quality providers, SDKs, and developer documentation
  • Collaborate across Security, Observability, and Infrastructure to ship scalable, secure public APIs and platform capabilities aligned to company objectives and product roadmaps
  • Build and scale high-performing teams: hire and develop managers and senior engineers, set clear goals and accountability, mature on-call with actionable runbooks, and foster an inclusive, growth-oriented culture
  • Drive our gRPC-first strategy with generated REST to accelerate SDKs/Terraform and platform-wide consistency, while raising the bar on reliability, security, and operational excellence
  • Shape strategy for agent workflows that orchestrate console actions, APIs, and IaC into repeatable, policy-compliant sequences that help customers and internal users automate common cloud tasks

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years leading managers and multi-team organizations delivering customer-facing platform surfaces at scale
  • Proven track record delivering reliable public APIs and backend services with measurable SLOs and leading cross-functional initiatives spanning multiple product lines
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing infrastructure using Kubernetes, scalable architectures, and automation
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to set organizational strategy, review RFCs, and drive outcomes amid ambiguity and rapid growth
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize problem statements from interactions with customers

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Kubernetes control-plane/API design patterns and CRD ergonomics; ability to bridge KRM and gRPC/REST interfaces where appropriate
  • Experience with API gateways, rate limiting, multitenancy, and edge security at scale
  • Familiarity with modern frontend stacks (e.g., React, GraphQL) used for building cloud consoles and admin tools, and how they interact with API and IAM layers
  • Understanding of authentication, authorization, and policy frameworks; proven ability to integrate IAM into API surfaces with consistent semantics
