Carewell is looking for a Director of Clinical Operations to build and run the clinical operating system for our new Care Services division. This is an execution-focused role ensuring the safe, compliant, and profitable scaling of Medicare-reimbursed care coordination programs.
What You'll Do
- Stand up and run daily clinical operations for Patient Illness Navigation / Community Health Integration (PIN/CHI) delivery.
- Translate program requirements into repeatable care workflows that promote enrollment, ensure billability/compliance, and define documentation requirements.
- Define the care team structure, supervision ratios, operating cadence, and scope-of-practice boundaries.
- Ensure billing-ready documentation quality and build QA routines for audit readiness.
- Operate a controlled pilot, tracking and improving KPIs like minutes delivered per member, engagement, documentation completeness, and escalation resolution.
- Create onboarding, training, and ongoing coaching for care team members.
- Define clinical escalation pathways and safety protocols, ensuring SLA compliance.
- Define clinical team workflow/tooling needs and partner with Product & Engineering to productize workflows.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration, Registered Nursing, or a related field.
- 8+ years in operations leadership, including 5+ years in healthcare or clinical settings.
- Experience with care coordination/care navigation programs (Patient Illness Navigation, Community Health Integration).
- In-depth experience with workflow design, operating playbooks, and performance systems for clinical operational efficiency.
- Experience building virtual delivery programs from the ground up (0→1) in a high-growth, ambiguous environment.
- Knowledge of healthcare compliance and regulatory standards (e.g., HIPAA, OSHA).
- Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams in fast-moving & remote/distributed environments.
- Proven track record of driving large-scale service operations and delivering on KPIs.
- Skilled in leveraging data analytics to identify trends, measure performance, and inform strategy.
- Passion for embedding equity, accessibility, and inclusivity into clinical operations.
Nice to Have
- A master’s degree (MBA, MPH, or MHA).
- Experience in healthtech startups.
- Experience with Medicare reimbursed programs (CCM, TCM) and/or MA populations and/or longitudinal care models.
