Canada Life UK is hiring a Director of Asset Liability Management to provide strategic leadership and expert oversight of our asset and liability management activities. This role leads the Quantitative Analysis team, ensuring robust reporting and driving initiatives for capital efficiency and risk management, and is designed as a pathway to evolve into the Deputy Chief Actuary.
What You'll Do
- Provide strategic leadership and expert oversight of asset and liability management activities.
- Lead the ALM function with emphasis on balance sheet management, in-force business reporting, risk management, capital logic development, and data management.
- Design, implement, and monitor ALM strategies to support annuity growth and meet UK regulatory requirements.
- Lead development and refinement of capital logic models, ALM reporting, and quantitative analytics for risk management and capital efficiency.
- Oversee internal and external ALM reporting to boards and UK regulators, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure appropriate Management Information and data management processes for effective ALM decision-making.
- Identify and deliver initiatives to optimise ALM, improving capital efficiency, earnings, and risk management.
- Monitor regulatory developments and ensure ALM policies and processes remain compliant.
- Collaborate with Internal Model, AFO, and Capital Management teams for integrated risk and capital solutions.
- Lead production of regular ALM reports and MI for ALCOIC and Board Committees.
- Develop and refine ALM strategies to support annuity business growth.
- Oversee preparation and delivery of reports to UK regulators, including the PRA.
- Ensure provision of timely and accurate Management Information and robust data management.
- Build strong relationships with senior management, UK regulators, and external partners.
- Communicate complex ALM concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Mentor and develop ALM and Quantitative team members, fostering a culture of excellence.
- Work closely with the Chief Actuary to strengthen succession planning.
What We're Looking For
- Extensive experience in ALM, actuarial and risk reporting, application development, quantitative modelling, and data management within life insurance or financial services.
- In-depth knowledge of UK regulatory frameworks relevant to ALM (e.g., PRA, Solvency II).
- Proven track record of leading high-performing teams and delivering strategic change.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrable track record of operating at both strategic and operational levels.
- Ambition and capability to progress to Deputy Chief Actuary.
- Qualified actuary (Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or equivalent).
- Demonstrable track record in ALM.
