Lead AI and machine learning platform development within a public safety technology ecosystem. Build and manage a high-performing team focused on distributed systems, edge AI, and scalable data infrastructure to deliver mission-critical solutions.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a strategic leader to inspire innovation, guide engineering excellence, and promote adoption of cutting-edge AI practices across the organization
- Build and lead a top-tier team of machine learning engineers with expertise in distributed training, edge AI, data engineering, and cloud/on-device tooling
- Partner with science, engineering, and product teams to design and implement end-to-end data ingestion systems and model pipelines from experimentation through deployment and optimization
- Challenge existing technical assumptions and introduce advanced distributed system designs, including high-throughput training and low-latency model serving
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive culture of ownership, experimentation, and continuous innovation while delivering customer-focused solutions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a similarly rigorous technical field
- Over 10 years of software engineering experience with a proven ability to design and build highly available, low-latency systems for high-traffic applications
- Minimum of 6 years in engineering leadership roles with a demonstrated history of growing and managing technical teams
- Proficient in Scala or Java, with hands-on experience in Python-based machine learning workflows
- Extensive experience designing and implementing complex, scalable, high-throughput machine learning pipelines for both streaming and batch processing
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical field
- 12 or more years of experience building and delivering AI-powered data science products
- Proven experience with major cloud provider machine learning platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Background in IoT or edge AI, including optimization of ML pipelines for resource-constrained on-device environments
- Experience managing multiple geographically dispersed engineering teams
