Honeycombinsurance is seeking a Director of Actuarial to play a critical role in supporting our Underwriting Team. You will be responsible for pricing, reserving analysis, rate indications, and ensuring data quality to effectively run the business. Your impact will directly influence our growth, profitability, and overall success.
What You'll Do
- Conduct regular rate indication analyses and make recommendations to the CUO and Underwriting team for rate adjustments
- Analyze loss performance of our product and make recommendations to drive growth and improve profitability
- Conduct quarterly reserves to develop ultimate loss ratios by line of business
- Act as a liaison to our capital and reinsurance partners to align profitability performance and goals
- Act as the data owner for the Underwriting team to ensure high quality data and the right access to drive decisions
- Establish key performance indicators and develop reporting to ensure the health of our business
- Assist the Underwriting team with product filings for admitted products
- Drive business and pricing segmentation initiatives to leverage pricing as a key product differentiator and competitive advantage
What We're Looking For
- 10 years+ of actuarial experience related to pricing or reserving with an insurance carrier or MGA
- Bachelor's degree
- Excellent analytical skills
- Strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization
- Ability to distill key actuarial concepts to others in non-technical terms
- Ability to understand the business holistically and think strategically
Nice to Have
- Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) highly preferred
Team & Environment
You'll report to Honeycomb’s Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) and work closely with the Underwriting, Claims, Finance, and Product/Engineering teams.
