Gilead Sciences, Inc. is looking for a Director, Lab Operations to lead and optimize daily research-wide laboratory-based activities. This role is central to maintaining operational excellence, ensuring safety compliance, and aligning lab strategies with our organizational mission.

What You'll Do

• Oversee daily research-wide lab-based operations and strategies, ensuring labs are well-maintained and supplies are available.
• Stay current on regulations and coordinate with EHS and facilities to ensure adherence to safety protocols and compliance.
• Manage the research-wide Lab Asset Management Program (LAMP), ensuring service levels (KPIs), budgets, capital expenditure utilization, and staffing goals are achieved.
• Create and maintain lab operation budgets, goals, and resource allocation while managing procurement processes on behalf of Research.
• Prepare and present reports on lab-based optimization initiatives, space planning strategies, budgets, and performance metrics.
• Manage personnel and teams, including hiring, training, and mentoring lab personnel, direct reports, contractors, and cross-functional teams.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of laboratory strategies and KPIs aligned with organizational goals.
• Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to support research initiatives and translate findings into practical applications.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
• 12 years of laboratory management experience overseeing lab operations in a biotech or pharmaceutical research-based environment.
• In-depth knowledge of lab safety and compliance regulations.
• Knowledge of advanced laboratory techniques, equipment, information systems, and software applications.
• Ability to analyze situations, identify issues, and make sound decisions in the best interests of the broader research organization and lab scientists.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills.
• Experience managing personnel and cross-functional teams.

• Compensation: $210,375.00 - $272,250.00
