Cronosgroup is hiring a Director of International Business Development to spearhead our global market expansion and new product commercialization within the highly regulated cannabis sector. This role requires a strategic leader who can also execute hands-on, navigating complex international frameworks to turn market opportunities into operational realities.
What You'll Do
- Identify and prioritize new international cannabis market opportunities aligned with enterprise growth objectives.
- Conduct market assessments including regulatory feasibility, sizing, competitive analysis, pricing, and distribution models.
- Develop financial models, investment cases, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership.
- Evaluate and recommend market entry pathways such as exports, partnerships, licensing, or production.
- Analyze international cannabis regulatory frameworks and translate regulatory change into strategic execution plans.
- Partner closely with Legal, Regulatory Affairs, and Quality to ensure compliant market entry and operations.
- Design scalable and compliant cross-border supply chain pathways and work with teams to implement them.
- Evaluate sourcing, manufacturing, packaging, and distribution options while developing redundancies to mitigate risk.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives from opportunity assessment through commercial launch, managing detailed project plans, budgets, and KPIs.
- Coordinate across Sales & Marketing, Operations, Finance, Regulatory, Quality, and Supply Chain teams.
- Ensure seamless integration of new markets and products into enterprise planning, forecasting, and reporting systems.
- Establish scalable processes and cross-functional workflows to support sustainable growth.
What We're Looking For
- 7-10 years of experience in international business development, global strategy, supply chain strategy, or market expansion.
- Experience in regulated industries such as cannabis, pharma, biotech, alcohol, or tobacco.
- Demonstrated success launching products or entering new international markets.
- Strong financial modeling and business case development skills.
- Experience navigating cross-border regulatory and compliance frameworks.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives in high-growth, evolving environments.
- Strategic thinking with operational follow-through and strong project management discipline.
- Regulatory awareness, risk mitigation skills, and expertise in supply chain design and redundancy planning.
- Cross-functional leadership and influence, with a high ownership mentality in ambiguous environments.
Nice to Have
- MBA or advanced degree (preferred but not required).
Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation range: $130,000 - $150,000 (Canada*) per year.
