Remote Humanitarian Leadership Position Location: Fully remote role requiring timezone overlap with East Africa by minimum 3 hours. No employment visa sponsorship available in U.S. or U.K. About this Role The Humanitarian Leadership role will guide global emergency and humanitarian programming, delivering rapid, dignified, and evidence-based cash relief to crisis-affected populations. You'll oversee strategy, partnerships, and implementation across diverse contexts, from conflict displacement to climate disasters, ensuring adaptable programming while maintaining core organizational principles of transparency and respect. Close collaboration with country leadership, global operations, and fundraising teams will shape the humanitarian vision, expanding direct cash transfer reach in challenging environments. Reports to: Senior Product Director Level: Director Travel Requirement: Up to 20% international travel for field visits, emergency response scoping, and partner engagement Primary Responsibilities: - Shape global humanitarian strategy: Identify new cash intervention opportunities in crisis settings - Build and manage partnerships: Develop strategic relationships with humanitarian agencies, donors, and governments - Lead emergency response design: Oversee program scoping, design, and rapid deployment - Drive operational excellence: Collaborate across functional teams for effective program delivery - Strengthen risk and safeguarding systems: Maintain compliance and risk management practices - Represent organization externally: Advocate for direct giving as a humanitarian tool - Develop and coach team members: Support program leads and foster inclusive culture Candidate Requirements: - Deep commitment to organizational values and poverty dignity - 10+ years humanitarian programming experience, with substantial field-based leadership - Strong understanding of humanitarian systems and coordination mechanisms - Proven experience designing cash and voucher assistance programs - Demonstrated leadership in high-pressure, uncertain environments - Excellent cross-cultural communication skills - Commitment to inclusivity and equity - English fluency required; additional languages preferred Compensation: Competitive salary based on role, location, and living costs - U.S. base salary: $128,000 - Kenya base salary: $101,221 Fully remote position with location-based benchmarking Application requires detailed responses about humanitarian experience, program launch approach, and professional background.
