Education Reform Now Advocacy is hiring a Director of Accounting & Finance to oversee all financial and accounting functions for our multi-entity organization. In this role, you will provide strategic financial guidance to leadership, manage audits, and ensure robust financial systems to support our mission of advancing educational equity and excellence for all students.
What You'll Do
- Lead strategic fiscal planning, financial reporting, and analysis for the organization.
- Sustain robust financial systems and internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance.
- Provide strategic financial guidance to executive leadership and department heads on budgeting and fiscal management.
- Lead the annual audit and 990 preparation process as the primary liaison with external auditors.
- Develop forward-thinking financial reports and dashboards to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Analyze budgets, financial trends, and forecasts to inform business activities.
- Manage cash flow, forecasting, and banking relationships to enhance cash positions.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws.
- Maintain a cost-sharing allocation model and ensure proper implementation of grant agreements across entities.
- Maintain separate financial records for each entity while producing consolidated statements for leadership.
- Manage intercompany transactions, allocations, and cash settlements.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and grants administration support.
- Partner with external auditors to execute the annual audit and file required regulatory reports.
- Lead the annual organization budgeting and planning process.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, packages, and other informational reports.
- Monitor financial performance against budget and provide insights to support departments and projects.
- Provide financial data and analysis to support grant proposals and donor reports.
- Manage and develop the finance and accounting team, fostering high performance.
- Evaluate, implement, and manage financial systems and software to enhance operational efficiency.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- 7+ years of progressive financial leadership roles.
- At least 3-5 years in a multi-entity nonprofit environment.
- Experience managing budgets over $10 million.
- Extensive experience with intercompany transactions.
- Proven experience leading annual audits.
- Proficiency with NetSuite accounting software.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to translate complex financial information for all audiences.
- Commitment to advancing educational equity and excellence for all students.
- Must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
Nice to Have
- CPA certification is strongly preferred.

You will manage the finance and accounting team and report directly to the Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel.

- Compensation range: $150,000 - $170,000
