UZ Gent is looking for a Digital Communications Officer to join our communications team in a temporary replacement role. You will manage the hospital’s official social media presence, translating complex medical information into accessible content and engaging respectfully with our diverse communities.
What You'll Do
- Create and publish content for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Bluesky.
- Write clear, channel-specific social copy tailored to target audiences.
- Interview patients, visitors, and staff respectfully for stories.
- Translate medical information and complex themes into understandable language.
- Take and edit photos and videos, including adjusting, editing, and subtitling.
- Manage short- and long-term content planning and maintain an overview.
- Build thoughtfully upon existing content formats.
- Think creatively about angles and formats, experimenting while safeguarding the university hospital’s credibility.
- Handle webcare by answering questions and reactions professionally and empathetically using a designated tool.
- Monitor conversations, follow trends, and signal potential reputation risks.
- Manage the closed Facebook group for employees and monitor its community dynamics.
- Develop and manage advertising campaigns via Meta Ads Manager.
- Determine target audiences, budgets, and objectives for campaigns.
- Track performance, analyze results, and adjust campaigns accordingly.
- Translate predetermined communication objectives into thoughtful online campaigns.
- Coordinate with colleagues from the communications team.
- Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other hospital staff.
What We're Looking For
- A bachelor's degree where communication played a significant role.
- Professional experience with social media via internship, student job, or work.
- Understanding of the unique dynamics of different social channels.
- Fluency in working with Meta Business Manager and Meta Ads Manager.
- An interest in current affairs and societal themes.
- The ability to treat people in vulnerable situations with respect.
- A genuine desire to ask questions and listen.
- Understanding that online communication in a hospital must be careful, correct, and people-oriented.
