About the Role

Fidelity is hiring a Digital Asset Support Engineer to provide critical support and engineering for emerging applications from our Blockchain Incubator Team. This role offers unique insight into our current digital asset initiatives and strategic direction. You will work within the Fidelity Center for Applied Technology (FCAT), a group exploring how blockchain technology can reinvent our current businesses and create new opportunities.

What You'll Do

  • Work across the incubator to learn about current and upcoming applications in production.
  • Partner closely with business teams to understand the driving use cases and rationale behind developed solutions.
  • Split your time between 50% digital asset application support and 50% digital asset engineering.

What We're Looking For

  • A degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent work experience.
  • Practical development experience on public blockchain platforms like Bitcoin or Ethereum, and/or private blockchain platforms.
  • Hands-on experience working with cryptographic protocols.
  • Contributions to open source projects, especially Blockchain-related ones.
  • Experience with JavaScript, Java, Python, Rust, and Go.
  • Understanding of the cryptographic principles underpinning Bitcoin or Ethereum.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • A passion for application support, stability, and blockchain development.
  • An adversarial approach to problem-solving, being adept at both creating and breaking code.
  • Experience working with design thinking techniques in iterative sprints (Agile).
  • A collaborative mindset and a desire to share knowledge with other developers.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge or experience with technologies using state/payment channels or Sidechains.
  • Experience with private blockchain projects (permissioned distributed ledgers).
  • Previous academic publication experience.
  • A degree in cryptography, or experience implementing cryptographic software.
  • Proven experience with standards bodies around software and internet governance.
