Braze is looking for a DevOps Engineer IV to join our Production team. In this individual contributor role, you will focus on CI/CD processes to improve engineer productivity and build a scalable, secure platform. You will be responsible for mentoring junior engineers, driving collaborative projects, and owning the operational aspects of our web services.
What You'll Do
- Deploy, manage, and administer web services in public cloud environments.
- Design and develop solutions for secure, highly available, performant, and scalable services in elastic environments.
- Maintain and continuously improve CI/CD solutions.
- Own all operational aspects of web services: automation, monitoring, alerting, reliability, and performance.
- Innovate solutions to operational challenges with a direct business impact.
- Drive resolution and communication during production-impacting incidents.
- Lead technical projects and ensure project-level deliveries.
- Collaborate effectively with engineering and business teams across continents.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 8+ years of professional DevOps / Infrastructure management experience.
- 5+ years of experience in AWS.
- Strong foundation in operating systems, networking, distributed systems, and systems architecture.
- Proven track record of leading critical DevOps projects.
- Hands-on expertise with AWS services, orchestration (ECS, EKS), and infrastructure management.
- Proficiency in CI/CD platforms (Jenkins, GitHub, GitHub Actions).
- Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash).
- Solid experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Packer).
- Solid experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with artifact management (AWS CodeArtifact, GitHub Packages/Artifacts, Artifactory).
- Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and tools (Snyk, SonarQube, Trivy).
- Knowledge of cloud-native security (IAM, least privilege, certificates, auditability).
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Broad exposure to cloud-hosted applications, virtualization platforms, relational/non-relational databases, reverse proxies, and orchestration platforms.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated curiosity, continuous learning, and drive to raise the technical bar.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience as a senior developer or application architect.
- Expertise in designing and maintaining high-availability CI/CD solutions.
- Exposure to AWS ML pipeline services (e.g., SageMaker).
- Development experience or familiarity with Java, Python, JavaScript ecosystems, and package managers (Maven, pip/uv, npm/yarn).
- Experience with observability stacks (logging, monitoring, tracing – e.g., Datadog, ELK).
- Experience working in compliance-regulated environments (PCI DSS, ISO 27000, HIPAA, SOC 2, GDPR).
