Severn Trent Plc is hiring a Design Manager

Severn Trent Plc is looking for a Design Manager to play a key role in our £415m Mains Renewal Programme, which will replace 870 miles of old water pipes across the Midlands. Reporting to the Design Business Lead and based in Bromsgrove, you will be accountable for a direct team, working with supply chain partners and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.

What You'll Do

• Ensure the successful delivery of the Mains Renewal Programme.
• Work alongside your team and supply chain partners to develop strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure the successful design, delivery and handover of projects.

What We're Looking For

• Ideally qualified in a technical engineering or design related discipline.
• Extensive experience of implementing CDM regulations in the design process.
• Strong understanding of risk management in construction and operational design.
• Excellent internal and external stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to build relationships with a diverse range of people.
• Forward-thinking innovator, capable of anticipating challenges and responding to change.
• Able to make educated judgments and decisions in the face of ambiguity.
• Good grasp of the bigger picture.
• Full UK driving licence.

Nice to Have

• Experience as an experienced engineer with a strong background in design.
• Experience leading successful design teams in a highly regulated industry such as water or gas.
• Strong team manager with excellent planning and implementation skills.
• Experience of leading design projects to ensure designs are delivered to time, cost and quality.
• Experience working with a diverse team of different skillsets.
• Experience building capacity and mentoring other engineers.

Team & Environment

You will be accountable for a direct team and report to the Design Business Lead.

Work Mode

This role is based onsite in Bromsgrove.
