About the Role

Kiewit Corporation is seeking a Design Engineering Manager to lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of engineering work for our nuclear market projects. You will be responsible for managing the engineering execution of EPC and design-build projects, balancing multiple competing priorities, and leading multi-discipline teams while managing client expectations.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee the overall management of the project engineering and design team.
  • Direct the development and execution of the project execution plan related to quality, deliverables, schedule, budget, staffing, risks, and change management.
  • Monitor and report project progress using established control systems and take corrective action as needed.
  • Communicate project status to senior management through regular reports and presentations.
  • Schedule and lead project team meetings.
  • Identify, evaluate, and document risks that could impact project success.
  • Monitor, control, and report project expenditures against budget.
  • Work within a matrix environment to communicate and coordinate engineering and design resource needs.
  • Lead the engineering portion of the project pursuit/proposal phase by developing the technical scope, schedule, and cost estimate.
  • Provide technical expertise.
  • Seek ways to achieve the highest customer satisfaction.
  • Engage with clients to understand their vision and business objectives to ensure implementation through design.
  • Coordinate discussions on project design and performance status with clients.
  • Develop future opportunities during project execution by making the client a raving fan.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related technical field.
  • 15 or more years of progressively complex experience in managing multidiscipline projects relevant to the nuclear market.
  • Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage projects and lead a team to execute work in a complex environment.
  • Must be self-motivated, results oriented and must constantly coach others to develop team members.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Must be able to travel at the demands of clients and project demands. A flexible schedule is essential.
  • Commitment to work ethics and integrity, and to treating others with respect.
  • Commitment to delivering quality work, and willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time.

  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
  • May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.

Nice to Have

  • Five or more years' experience performing engineering-related design within the nuclear markets.
  • PE license is highly desirable.

Work Mode

This is a hybrid position based in Lenexa, KS or Oak Ridge, TN.
