Responsibilities
- Translate SQL code, stored procedures, and database structures into PostgreSQL-compatible syntax using SQL and PLpgSQL, referring complex or unclear cases to senior staff.
- Analyze and address findings from AWS Schema Conversion Tool, identifying constraints requiring escalation to experienced engineers.
- Manage version-controlled Flyway migration scripts, including repeatable deployments and rollback procedures.
- Detect and resolve application-level issues tied to database behavior, with assistance available for difficult problems.
- Improve PostgreSQL query performance through execution plan analysis, index tuning, and rewriting inefficient queries.
- Oversee AWS Database Migration Service during initial loading and ongoing replication phases, reporting anomalies to leadership.
- Help investigate and resolve data consistency and throughput issues in DMS workflows.
- Verify and confirm data accuracy between source and destination systems with verifiable evidence, not assumptions.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure SQL compatibility and meet performance benchmarks prior to system cutover.
