Airbnb is seeking a Data Platform Product Lead to define and deliver the data products and systems strategy that powers our sales and operations organizations. You will partner deeply with sales leaders, data & software engineering teams, and business stakeholders to design the next generation of data infrastructure.
What You'll Do
- Partner with sales and ops leadership and data engineering to define 18+ month roadmaps for data products, tools, and platforms.
- Challenge data and software engineering teams on technical decisions, prototype solutions, and ensure building for AI-first workflows and future scale.
- Translate complex sales workflows and host/rep needs into detailed technical requirements and data products.
- Coordinate initiatives across many cross-functional teams including Sales, Operations, Data Engineering, Analytics, and Software Engineering.
- Design data products that leverage LLMs, agents, and emerging AI capabilities to reimagine how teams work with data.
- Jump into chaotic situations, quickly map system dependencies, and use those moments to identify architectural gaps and strategic opportunities.
What We're Looking For
- Experience building intelligent systems that turn data into actionable insights.
- Ability to translate metrics into clear, plain-language insights and choose the right format—chart or words.
- Skill in architecting systems that auto-generate reports and insights using technologies like LLMs.
- Deep data & SQL fluency to validate requirements, write complex queries, and challenge engineering decisions.
- Product thinking for real workflows, designing outputs people want to share and use in conversations.
- Ability to thrive in chaos, quickly map connections, and identify what needs to be built.
- Strategic product vision that balances immediate fixes with architecting for platform scale.
- 10+ years in product management building data products, analytics platforms, or insight generation systems, with a strong 0→1 track record.
Nice to Have
- Advanced SQL and data modeling skills for writing complex queries and designing semantic layers.
- Experience designing narrative-driven data products or automated insight generation systems beyond traditional BI dashboards.
- Strong opinions on what makes insights actionable and why some visualizations drive action.
- Understanding of how to leverage LLMs for reasoning, narrative generation, or personalization in data products.
- Experience obsessing over product output—every word, chart, recommendation—and measuring user action.
- Experience with modern data/analytics stacks (dbt, Looker, Tableau, or similar) and a clear point of view on their strengths and limitations.
- Track record of iterating based on user engagement metrics like what gets opened, shared, and acted upon.
