Gap Inc. is hiring a Data Governance Manager specializing in Customer, Marketing & Commerce to join our enterprise data governance team. You will act as a subject matter expert, prioritizing high-value use cases to enable data-driven insights and treating data as a product. Your core mission is to ensure data consistency, integrity, and operationalize governance frameworks across the business.
What You'll Do
- Articulate and apply data strategy principles to solve moderately complex business problems spanning multiple functions.
- Drive workshops with business teams to understand use cases and facilitate cross-functional solutions.
- Lead the implementation of data governance policies for data sharing, retention, and PII data protection.
- Lead data governance forums to ensure effective oversight and desired outcomes.
- Build and own the customer, loyalty, and marketing business metrics library with attribute enrichment, serving as the lead finance data steward.
- Manage data source identification, controls monitoring, data quality frameworks, and metadata management.
- Define and gather business functional data quality rules for core customer metrics.
- Support transformation programs, including customer loyalty, to enable fast, frictionless access to trusted data.
- Optimize data hierarchy structures and lead hierarchy enrichment initiatives.
- Understand downstream impacts and communicate data changes effectively.
- Influence other teams to adopt data governance processes and procedures.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in a data stewardship or data analytics role, preferably in the retail industry.
- Strong understanding of customer domain master data, metadata, marketing, and commerce data.
- Hands-on experience with data quality management and data governance tools like Collibra or Alation.
- Knowledge of applications and databases such as Stibo, Profisee, and Informatica.
- Leadership presence with the ability to present effectively to C-Suite audiences.
- Ability to analyze data and extrapolate knowledge to make strong recommendations.

- A Master's degree or relevant professional certification.
