CollegeVine is hiring a Data Annotation Technician to build the foundation for accurate machine learning models by producing high-quality data. Your work will directly support our mission to address challenges in higher education and unlock new possibilities for operational efficiency, student success, and alumni advancement. Your primary initial project will be the transcript-reading system for interpreting high school transcripts.
What You'll Do
- Manually extract course information, credit weights, and grades from student transcripts to construct ground truth datasets.
- Calculate GPAs based on a predefined rule set.
- Review transcripts flagged as low-confidence by the system, comparing PDFs with extracted data to make corrections.
- Ensure data quality by delivering work that is complete, accurate, and consistent with guidelines.
- Identify edge cases or ambiguity in source documents and escalate when needed.
- Meet daily delivery quotas to ensure the team meets partner demands.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to provide structured feedback and suggest tool improvements.
What We're Looking For
- Strong attention to detail and a track record of high-accuracy, repetitive work.
- Comfort working with structured and unstructured data and digital documents.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Ability to follow strict guidelines and handle edge cases with good judgment.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with college admissions, high school transcripts and GPA calculations, and/or other data annotations projects.

Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation: $55,000 - $60,000 USD annually.
