Splash Financial is hiring a Data Analyst (Contract) for a 6-month, 40-hour/week engagement as a US-based independent contractor. You will be responsible for creating a shared data foundation, documenting key datasets and metrics, supporting critical dashboards, and turning repeat questions into scalable reporting.
What You'll Do
- Create and maintain a shared data definition for key business and product concepts to ensure alignment between Engineering and business teams.
- Document and socialize metric definitions, entity definitions, and core logic.
- Document each dataset and its purpose, capturing key metadata.
- Support critical dashboards and the underlying data models by confirming data flows, identifying nuances, and validating logic with Engineering.
- Create and maintain dashboards that monitor metrics across third-party products/vendors.
- Assist with UAT by creating comparison queries, validating outputs across systems, and investigating discrepancies.
- Inventory existing datasets and group them into clear subject areas.
- Partner with Product to convert repeat ad-hoc questions into reusable reporting.
What We're Looking For
- 3-5 years in a data analyst role.
- Advanced SQL skills to build validation/debugging queries.
- Experience working with product analytics tools like Heap, Full Story, Amplitude, etc.
- Proven experience working with null datasets and turning them into reliable reporting.
- Strong ability to translate between technical and business stakeholders; comfortable creating shared definitions and resolving ambiguity.
- Experience building dashboards in common BI tools.
- Strong data hygiene: documentation, a consistent approach to QA/UAT.
- Comfort operating in a fast-moving environment with evolving requirements.
Nice to Have
- Experience in fintech or regulated environments.
- Familiarity with data modeling concepts.
- Experience working with event-driven architecture and/or multiple source systems.
