The Oregon Youth Authority invites you to become a Customer Service Guide (Human Services Specialist 1), a vital role within the Oregon Eligibility Partnership. Your work will directly empower Oregonians to access life-changing services, fostering community equity and well-being from our Brookings Branch.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the first point of contact for customers entering the office or connecting virtually through our portal and phone systems.
- Contribute to a welcoming, trauma-informed environment for all families interacting with the department.
- Assist Oregonians applying for medical, cash (TANF), Domestic Violence services, food benefits (SNAP), childcare assistance (ERDC), and long-term care services.
- Answer inquiries regarding case status and program details across in-person, phone, and online channels.
- Provide information on accessing relevant community resources.
- Collaborate within a team that rotates tasks to meet the dynamic needs of the office.
What We're Looking For
- Two years of experience in interviewing for personal/technical information or substantial public contact, involving a high volume of paperwork and documentation.
- A professional demeanor with a proven record of delivering quality customer service daily by phone, in writing, and in person.
- Proficiency using computers, web browsers, databases, Microsoft programs, and general office equipment like phone systems and copiers.
- Experience conveying complex rules and procedures to customers with diverse learning styles and backgrounds, interpreting non-verbal cues and confirming comprehension.
- A collaborative approach, elevating all team member voices and building strong internal relationships.
- Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail in reviewing information, data entry, and determining appropriate follow-up actions.
- A commitment to continued learning and contributing to an inclusive, anti-racist workplace, with experience assisting individuals from diverse personal and cultural backgrounds.

Benefits & Compensation
- Salary range of $3,429 - $4,622 per month (non-PERS qualifying). If PERS qualifying, the range reflects an additional 6.95%.
