The Custodian (2708) at Camp Mather, operated by SF Recreation & Parks, plays a vital role in ensuring clean, safe, and welcoming facilities for camp patrons and staff during the summer 2026 season. This seasonal position requires hands-on cleaning and maintenance work in a remote, natural setting outside of San Francisco.
What You'll Do
- Performing routine and extensive cleaning tasks of Camp Mather facilities (i.e., restrooms, cabins, staff housing, food service areas) including sweeping, dusting, polishing, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing and disinfecting
- Maintaining exterior areas of Camp Mather such as ramps, sidewalks, loading docks, decks, parking lots and other related areas
- Operation of equipment such as scrubbers, buffers, pressure washers and other electrical, gas, and manual operated equipment
- Performing housekeeping duties including washing/rotating of linens, refilling of toiletries, restocking of amenities and keeping high cleanliness standard of our specialist cabins
- Transferring disposable waste materials from Camp Mather grounds to dumpsters
- Assisting in moving and arranging furniture and equipment as needed
- Washing interior and exterior wall partitions and windows
- Maintaining condition of custodial tool, supplies, equipment, and appliances
- Maintaining storage of custodial tools and supplies; securing building as required
- Effectively communicating with supervisors and co-workers on a regular basis about operational concerns and required materials
- Provide excellent customer service to camp patrons on a regular basis
- Performs additional duties as required
What We're Looking For

- Work both indoors and outdoors
- Exposure to sun and high temperatures
- Regularly encounter bugs and insects
- Work six (6) days per week with shifts including weekends and evenings
- Be available from April 19, 2026 to September 25, 2026
- Secure own transportation to and from Camp Mather
- Adapt to very limited cellular and Internet/Wi-Fi services
