East Otero School District No. R1 is hiring a School Counselor to provide a comprehensive, developmental program addressing academic, career, and personal/social development for K-12 students. You will act as a professional school advocate dedicated to maximizing student potential and academic achievement.
What You'll Do
- Work with students on an individual or small group basis to facilitate academic, social, personal, and career development.
- Design and implement counseling curriculum.
- Collaborate with staff, administration, and parents to support student success.
- Utilize existing data to advocate for student achievement.
- Support students in discovering and developing their special abilities.
- Provide support and educational information to parents.
- Collaborate with parents to foster positive school/home relationships.
- Adhere to school and district discipline policy.
- Participate in the orientation of new students and staff to the building.
- Collaborate with community referral agencies.
- Supervise students as requested by the building principal.
- Serve as a member of assigned professional learning communities (committees) for the enhancement of student learning.
- Assist with CSAP and other testing.
- Serve as a member of the East Otero District Crises Team and the Counseling Advisor Board.
- Maintain student records and submit required reports.
- Perform other duties assigned by the building principal.
What We're Looking For
- Master's Degree in counseling from an accredited college/university.
- Colorado Department of Education - Special Services License with Endorsement - Counseling.
Team & Environment
This position reports directly to the building principal.

Work Mode
This is an onsite position located at La Junta Primary School.
