Role Overview
As an Assistant Tour Manager, you will support the delivery of high-quality shore excursions aboard international cruise ships. Working hand-in-hand with the Tour Manager, you'll help ensure seamless operations, guest engagement, and strong sales performance across all port activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support sales initiatives by promoting excursions and identifying opportunities to meet revenue targets
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all tour offerings and communicate details clearly to guests
- Assist in managing guest inquiries and streamline check-in processes for excursions
- Accompany tour groups when necessary, providing information about upcoming destinations and supporting with multilingual communication
- Manage documentation, ticket distribution, and financial reporting to ensure operational accuracy
- Support team leadership by guiding onboard staff, clarifying responsibilities, and delivering on-the-job training
- Ensure digital sales platforms—including interactive kiosks and in-cabin systems—are fully functional and user-friendly
- Help resolve guest concerns efficiently, contributing to a positive onboard experience
- Supervise embarkation, disembarkation, and transfer logistics to maintain safety and punctuality
Qualifications
- Minimum age of 19 years
- Secondary school diploma required; a degree in tourism or languages is preferred
- Proven background in sales or tour operations
- Previous experience in the same role on a cruise ship is mandatory
- Experience leading or supervising teams in a service environment
- Fluency in English and Italian is required, along with strong spoken skills in one additional language: French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, or Chinese
- Non-offensive tattoos are permitted; facial tattoos are not allowed
Work Environment & Benefits
This is an onboard position with contracts lasting 6 to 8 months, followed by a 2-month break. You’ll work in an international setting with crew members from around the world, enjoying free accommodation and meals during your contract. Medical coverage is provided, and the company supplies your initial travel ticket to board the ship.
