About the Role

MyFlorida's Department of Management Services is hiring a Correctional Probation Supervisor to lead a team of officers. This role is responsible for directing correctional probation officers and senior officers, ensuring all investigative and supervision services comply with Florida statutes and department procedures. The supervisor may also oversee the day-to-day operation of a small office.

What You'll Do

  • Direct and supervise correctional probation officers and senior officers.
  • Monitor daily activities to ensure services comply with Florida statutes, department rules, and the probation and parole manual.
  • Supervise the day-to-day operation of a small office.
  • Spend majority of time communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees; planning and directing their work.
  • Review and approve all correspondence and investigations (pre-sentence, post-sentence, other state, pre-parole, special) for quality, accuracy, and content.
  • Review and approve violation reports, affidavits, and warrant requests for offenders.
  • Review and approve entries into the court ordered payment system and management information system and requests for information from NCIC/FCIC and DHSMV.
  • Distribute and review workloads to ensure consistent enforcement of supervision orders.
  • Assign new and transfer cases for supervision and investigation.
  • Monitor assignments for equitable distribution.
  • Review officer compliance with field supervision standards and conduct various case reviews (initial, quarterly, semi-annual, annual, special, pre-termination).
  • Accompany officers in the field to monitor compliance with safety procedures and supervision duties.
  • Supervise implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate employee performance and develop performance improvement plans.
  • Counsel, motivate, and guide staff in daily performance of duties.
  • Ensure staff compliance with mandated training requirements.
  • Review and approve requests for leave.
  • Interview applicants for employment and conduct background investigations.
  • Maintain liaison with judiciary, prosecutors, public defenders, law enforcement, treatment providers, non-profit agencies, and other criminal justice representatives.
  • Manage and supervise offenders as required in an officer's absence.
  • Conduct investigations when workload demands or special circumstances deem it necessary.
  • Handle administrative duties as assigned and assist in absence of Senior Supervisor.
  • Serve on teams or committees to study issues, solve problems, refine practices, develop new programs, or implement new policies.
  • Attend and deliver training relating to job duties and career development.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Salary: $59,623.72 minimum annually. Salary will be determined in accordance with current pay procedures.
