About the Role

Jefferies LLC is seeking a Corporate Controller to provide critical support to the Canada CFO & Treasurer. In this role, you will manage local finance, regulatory reporting, tax, and treasury functions for our Canadian operations, ensuring robust financial management and compliance.

What You'll Do

  • Act as the lead finance business partner supporting the Canada CFO & Treasurer.
  • Lead accounting and financial reporting for monthly and annual statements under IFRS and CIRO rules.
  • Perform detailed financial statement reviews and variance analysis against budget.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for all internal, external, and regulatory audits.
  • Oversee audit processes, including preparation of working papers and schedules.
  • Review or prepare Canada direct and indirect tax provisions with external consultants.
  • Support all corporate finance, treasury, and tax matters, collaborating with internal groups.
  • Liaise with internal resources to meet all monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting deadlines.
  • Recommend improvements to operational effectiveness, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Ensure effective internal controls are designed and operating for finance, tax, and treasury functions.
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Qualified Accountant designation (CPA or equivalent).
  • 8-10+ years of Accounting/Finance experience in broker-dealer (CIRO), banking (OSFI), auditing, capital markets, or financial services.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, with ability to engage Senior Management.
  • Self-motivated with a focus on driving results and a strong sense of accountability.
  • Demonstrated senior-level management and leadership experience.
  • Proficiency in broker-dealer, banking, and tax regulations (e.g., CIRO, OSC, CRA).
  • In-depth understanding of financial and non-financial risk management.

Team & Environment

You will report directly to the Canada CFO & Treasurer, providing finance leadership for the Canadian entity.

Work Mode

This role operates in a local-country work mode, based in Canada.
