Axion is hiring a Controller to take our accounting foundation from startup-scrappy to institution-grade. You'll be the hands-on leader responsible for establishing reliable, scalable processes across our 150-person global organization. This role owns accounting operations end-to-end, including tightening the close, leading a critical ERP migration, and driving GAAP discipline across all entities.
What You'll Do
- Run the monthly and quarterly close processes for entities in the U.S., U.K., and India.
- Own journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations; drive toward a 5–8-day close timeline.
- Strengthen revenue recognition and GAAP discipline, particularly ASC 606, close prior audit gaps, and document sustainable accounting policies.
- Lead the move off QuickBooks; evaluate and recommend a new ERP (Rillet or Campfire) and own the full implementation.
- Oversee accounting for three wholly owned entities, including India (~200 employees). Manage intercompany eliminations, FX, and coordination with local accounting partners.
- Own the annual audit process end-to-end and quarterback U.S. federal, state, and sales-tax compliance with external advisors.
- Manage international filings in partnership with U.K. and India firms.
- Own vendor visibility and governance. Centralize ~$120K/month of spend through the ERP and Ramp, ensure correct department coding, and monitor renewals.
- Deliver monthly GAAP statements and department-level P&Ls. Partner with FP&A to ensure clean, consistent data for forecasting and board reporting.
- Manage the transition from outsourced bookkeeping to a hybrid internal model. Hire and oversee offshore accounting support and build a small U.S. team over time.
What We're Looking For
- 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Background combining Big 4 experience with growth-stage SaaS or tech company work.
- Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and ASC 606.
- Proven success leading an ERP implementation and driving systems improvement.

- A hands-on operator who documents, automates, and follows through on processes.
- Comfortable managing external and offshore teams; a clear communicator and builder of scalable process.
