The 4th Engineer is responsible for the upkeep and functionality of auxiliary equipment including pumps, purifiers, and compressors. This role supports the broader engine department in daily operations, maintenance, and repair activities essential to vessel performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on auxiliary machinery
- Assist in engine room operations, ensuring systems operate safely and efficiently
- Monitor equipment performance and carry out corrective actions as needed
- Comply with all safety and environmental regulations during technical operations
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a valid Certificate of Competency (STCW Regulation III/1) and possess current STCW certifications relevant to the position. Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required. A minimum of six months in the same rank on a container ship of similar size and type is necessary.
- Proven experience with container vessel systems and operations
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural crew environment
- Prior service in U.S. and Australian trading regions is an advantage
