Consumer Tech Careers is hiring a Deputy Digital Culture and Engagement Editor for Mashable. You will write and edit content, spot trends, and help develop social media strategy. The ideal candidate is obsessed with digital culture, the creator economy, and tech trends, and can produce content in various formats.

What You'll Do

• Write breaking news hits, evergreen utilities, and features.
• Write about the creator economy and the creators who are driving social trends.
• Be comfortable brand-building and promoting Mashable content on social media.
• Write about phones, apps, and other products and developments in tech spaces with a conversational tone.
• Proactively pitch stories and look for reliable sources and angles on tech and digital culture topics.
• Help elevate journalism with forward-looking enterprise and original content.
• Engage audiences with journalism via social platforms.
• Review and write about new products and software releases, including affiliate linking.
• Write content around deals on products, including affiliate linking.

What We're Looking For

• 2+ years as a digital culture or engagement editor.
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication skills.
• Knowledge of the digital space and Mashable's core coverage areas.
• Understand audience listening, including using trending, engagement and historical audience data to drive content plans.

• Deep familiarity with online trends, latest tech hardware and software, and creator culture.
• Active social media presence and knowledge of impactful platforms and people.
• Detail-oriented writer who can generate compelling story ideas and understand headlines.
• Natural self-starter and organized professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
• Team player who values the success of reports, coworkers, and Mashable.
• Top-notch writer with firm grasp of AP style and ability to quickly turn around clean copy.
• Well-versed in SEO and supporting content strategy on TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, etc.
• Willing to chat about the day’s events and find interesting angles and stories to cover.
• Ability to handle sensitive topics.
• Knowledge of pop culture and current events.
• Familiarity with tech and tools creators use, from phones and laptops to video editing software and project management apps.
