AECOM is hiring a Consultant Ecologist

About the Role

This role involves conducting ecological surveys, assessing environmental impacts, and supporting the development of sustainable project outcomes through technical reporting and compliance with legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field surveys to identify and assess flora, fauna, and habitats
  • Prepare ecological impact assessments and supporting documentation
  • Analyze survey data to inform project planning and design
  • Ensure compliance with relevant environmental laws and standards
  • Support multidisciplinary teams on infrastructure and development projects
  • Communicate findings to clients and regulatory agencies
  • Contribute to habitat management and mitigation planning
  • Participate in protected species surveys and licensing processes
  • Maintain accurate field records and databases
  • Assist in the preparation of environmental statements
  • Engage in project scoping and feasibility studies
  • Collaborate with technical specialists across disciplines
  • Deliver project tasks within schedule and budget constraints
  • Undertake desk-based assessments and literature reviews
  • Support the development of ecological monitoring programs
  • Provide input during public consultation phases
  • Prepare method statements and risk assessments for fieldwork
  • Contribute to biodiversity net gain assessments
  • Work on both terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems
  • Support due diligence for land development proposals
  • Engage in continuous professional development
  • Follow health and safety protocols during site visits
  • Assist senior staff with project management duties
  • Participate in client meetings and project reviews
  • Adapt approaches based on project scale and complexity
