Broward County Public Schools is seeking a Community Liaison for a temporary position ending December 31, 2026. Your mission is to strengthen individual students' response to and benefit from school programs by leveraging home-school relations and conflict mediation.
What You'll Do
- Assist in organizing, recruiting, and providing support to school organizations and committees that require parent involvement.
- Provide and coordinate activities that encourage parent involvement in the school.
- Consult and cooperate with the principal/district administrator, assistant principals, school psychologists, guidance counselors, school social workers, and classroom teachers in providing support services to parents.
- Visit students' homes to explain school programs, reinforce positive attitudes toward school, and learn of any home problems affecting student accomplishments.
- Serve as a channel of communication for relaying the concerns, thoughts, and attitudes of parents and the general public to the school.
- Become familiar with public and private agencies (health, welfare, police, etc.) to better service families in need.
- Discourage absenteeism by working in conjunction with school social workers.
- Participate in staff meetings, supervisory sessions, workshops, and required training.
- Keep complete, up-to-date, and accurate records and reports as required.
- Present a positive image of the school to parents and the community.
What We're Looking For
- A standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) program.
- Demonstrated work experience in organization activities and/or participation with community agencies.
- Verified knowledge of child care and schooling through experience with community organizations and school agencies.
- Ability to communicate effectively with members of the community.
- Computer skills as required for the position.
Nice to Have
- Members of the school's community are preferred.
- Bilingual skills are preferred.
Team & Environment
You will work closely with the principal/district administrator, assistant principals, school psychologists, guidance counselors, school social workers, and classroom teachers, reporting directly to the Principal/District Administrator.
Benefits & Compensation
- Hourly Pay: $21.13 - $31.92 per hour.
Work Mode
This position requires onsite work.
