MidFirst Bank is looking for a Commercial Underwriter / Credit Analyst to perform complex data acquisition and analysis, resulting in senior-level management reports and loan presentations. You will underwrite commercial loan requests from financial statement spreading through loan approval memorandum preparation, working closely with relationship managers to structure loans and identify risks.
What You'll Do
- Work with relationship managers to properly structure loan requests to meet bank policy and risk appetite.
- Contact internal and external customers to gather or clarify information.
- Analyze corporate financials using spreading software to assess cash flow, leverage, and coverage ratios.
- Analyze personal tax returns and financial data to assess the strength of personal obligors or business owners.
- Utilize internal and external collateral evaluations to assess secondary or tertiary repayment sources.
- Prepare loan approval memorandums for senior management that identify key risks and mitigating factors.
- Periodically review existing loan customers for annual reviews and covenant monitoring.
- Work independently to service and support the department’s internal and external customers.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for certain industries or loan types.
- Assist Relationship Managers in determining interest for new credit opportunities and structuring new credits.
- Prepare comprehensive Credit Memos with supporting analysis including structure/pricing, financial spreads, tax return analysis, and risk assessment.
- Prepare Loan Agreement Compliance Reports (LACR), Annual Review Reports (ARR), and Monitored Loan Reports (MLR) for existing credits.
- Provide in-depth analysis of historical financial statements, cash flow, debt service requirements, and business plans/projections.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in a business-related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of commercial underwriting experience, preferably with CRE banking transactions.
- Knowledge of financial and tax accounting, general underwriting, analytical skills, and credit risk principles.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience spreading and analyzing corporate financial statements.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Effective written and oral communication.
- Strong technical writing abilities.
- Ability to manage to pre-determined deadlines and effectively manage competing priorities.
- Understanding of collateral lien perfection for various collateral types.
Nice to Have
- C&I / CRE experience.
- CFP certification.
- Prior experience using IBS Insight, Moody’s Risk Analyst, Moody’s CreditLens, Fidelity Information Services, Hyland Software OnBase, and Metavante BankerInsight.

- Salary range: $80,000.00 - $125,000.00
