Baystate Health is seeking a Coding Specialist to ensure the accurate classification of inpatient medical records. You will be responsible for assigning precise diagnostic and procedural codes that support data integrity and compliance. All tasks are performed following the Operating Principles of Baystate Health.
What You'll Do
- Review medical record documentation to accurately assign ICD-10-CM and PCS codes.
- Ensure the quality and integrity of coding, including accurate determination of principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures.
- Participate in educational coding meetings virtually or onsite.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information.
- Contribute to the general efficiency of the section and the department.
- Work with HIM Compliance to address documentation and improve quality.
- Meet, maintain, and/or exceed departmental productivity and quality standards.
- Assist in training Coding Specialist-Associate personnel when needed.
What We're Looking For
- 2-4 years of experience as a coder in a hospital setting.
- A GED or HiSET as a minimum educational requirement.
Technical Stack
- ICD-10-CM and PCS codes
- DRGs (Diagnosis-Related Groups)
- Computer applications for the healthcare field
Benefits & Compensation
- Hourly compensation range: $26.60 - $30.58 - $36.16
