MiWay is looking for a Cloud Solutions Architect to own the end-to-end architecture and delivery of secure, scalable, and cost-optimized cloud solutions on AWS and Azure. You will partner with business, security, and engineering teams to translate requirements into cloud-native architectures and lead hands-on implementation, automation, migration, and operationalization.
What You'll Do
- Lead architecture for net-new and modernization initiatives across AWS and Azure, including multi-cloud, hybrid, and edge patterns.
- Produce High-Level Designs (HLDs), Low-Level Designs (LLDs), reference architectures, sequence diagrams, and decision records.
- Select appropriate cloud-native services, containers, serverless, or Kubernetes based on workload fit, cost, performance, resilience, and compliance.
- Design for multi-account/subscription patterns, including landing zones, networking, IAM/Entra ID, governance, and policies.
- Lead hands-on build and migration using infrastructure-as-code, pipelines, landing zones, networking, security controls, and observability.
- Deliver container and serverless solutions using EKS/AKS, ECS/Fargate, Lambda, and Azure Functions within event-driven architectures.
- Create Disaster Recovery and Redundancy Plans.
- Embed security-by-design principles into all architectures.
- Implement guardrails using tools like AWS Control Tower and Azure Landing Zone Accelerator.
- Collaborate with Security and Compliance teams on standards like CIS, NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS, and POPIA.
- Architect and implement monitoring, logging, tracing, SLO/SLA, alerting, runbooks, autoscaling, backup/DR, and testing.
- Run architecture workshops and Proofs of Concept (PoCs).
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to team members.
- Document solution decisions and present them to governance forums.
- Conduct cost reviews and optimization for cloud workloads.
What We're Looking For
- Grade 12 Senior Certificate.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or an equivalent qualification.
- AWS Solutions Architect – Professional certification.
- Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification.
- 5–10+ years in cloud engineering/architecture with production delivery in both AWS and Azure.
- 5–10+ years in cloud engineering/architecture with production delivery in hybrid environments.
- Strong understanding of network protocols, such as IPv4, OSPF, BGP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs.
- Experience with network troubleshooting using tools like ping, traceroute, Wireshark, and other diagnostic utilities.
- Experience with network security, including firewalls, VPNs, NAT, access control lists (ACLs), and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
- A broad understanding of SD-WAN and MPLS networks.
- Proficiency in both verbal and written communication in English.
- Strong organization, time-management, communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- A drive for life-long learning and a strong sense of accountability.
