Ivanti is looking for a Cloud Database Administrator to join our engineering team. You will be responsible for safeguarding and streamlining our mission-critical SQL Server databases across AWS and Azure, driving automation, and championing security and operational excellence. Your work will ensure our cloud database infrastructure is robust, compliant, and highly available.
What You'll Do
- Administer, monitor, and support SQL Server databases on AWS (RDS, EC2) and Azure (SQL DB, Managed Instance, SQL on VMs)
- Manage backup/recovery, patching, and high availability (AlwaysOn, Geo-replication, Log Shipping)
- Tune SQL queries, improve indexing and analyze wait stats, leveraging tools like SolarWinds DPA
- Integrate and optimize observability tools such as New Relic APM, RedGate Monitor, and SQL Monitor for real-time diagnostics
- Automate operational tasks using PowerShell, T-SQL, and other scripting tools; contribute to DevOps pipelines
- Support other data platforms: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, and Redis
- Collaborate with CloudOps, DevOps, and SRE teams around release management, deployment automation, and IaC
- Ensure cost-effective cloud resource utilization through tagging, right-sizing, and scheduled scaling
- Maintain secure access controls and auditing as per FedRAMP High and IL5; support audits and compliance
- Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation for incident response and resolution
What We're Looking For
- 3–8 years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA, including at least 2 years working in AWS or Azure cloud
- Solid expertise with SQL Server 2016+ (installation, tuning, HA/DR, maintenance)
- Proven experience with cloud monitoring & troubleshooting tools: New Relic (DB Insights & APM), SolarWinds DPA, RedGate
- Strong automation skills using PowerShell, T-SQL, and (optionally) Azure/AWS CLI
- Experience in regulated/cloud environments (FedRAMP, IL5, HIPAA, etc.) and cost optimization
- Excellent communication and documentation skills; proven collaborator across functions
- Working knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Redis)
Nice to Have
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, AWS Certified Database – Specialty or Solutions Architect – Associate
- Familiarity with FedRAMP High/IL5 operational standards
