Role Overview
As a Senior Systems Engineer and Team Lead, you will lead the management and security of core infrastructure systems, focusing on Active Directory, Azure, multi-factor authentication, VMware ESX, and Windows security. You will act as a technical authority and escalation point, ensuring system reliability, security, and performance across a virtualized enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the operation and administration of critical infrastructure, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and PKI services
- Lead the security track for Active Directory consolidation, identifying vulnerabilities and implementing remediation strategies
- Design and deploy automated solutions using PowerShell and Terraform to detect and resolve security gaps
- Ensure system resilience through robust backup, disaster recovery, and capacity planning practices
- Support virtualized Windows environments on VMware, including hardware and software lifecycle management
- Respond to critical incidents and system escalations, including during non-business hours as required
- Collaborate with Cloud, Compute, and Messaging teams to align infrastructure strategy with broader engineering goals
- Develop and enforce change management procedures to maintain system integrity
- Mentor team members, promote knowledge sharing, and lead by example in a high-performance culture
- Communicate technical and risk-related information clearly to stakeholders across technical and non-technical levels
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years supporting production infrastructure with deep experience in authentication systems
- Proven expertise in Active Directory, Group Policy, Kerberos, LDAP, and Windows security in enterprise environments
- Strong automation background using PowerShell, scripting, and Terraform
- Extensive experience managing VMware virtualized systems and Windows Server platforms
- Familiarity with Azure IaaS/PaaS, MFA, enterprise applications, and security controls
- Experience with PKI, DNS, DHCP, and secure network architecture
- Ability to lead technical projects, prioritize under pressure, and adapt to shifting demands
- Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration skills, especially within global teams
- Proven leadership in team lead or supervisory roles
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops in production settings
- Knowledge of Linux systems and administration
- Familiarity with AWS and hybrid cloud environments
- Understanding of LAN/WAN, firewall, and load balancing technologies
- Exposure to security tools such as Tenable Nessus, SolarWinds, Mimecast, or CrowdStrike
