About the Role

The University of Pittsburgh seeks a Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator to provide essential nursing and coordination support for clinical research projects. This role is based onsite at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in Lawrenceville.

What You'll Do

  • Coordinate clinical research projects and drug trials.
  • Assess patients for qualification and enrollment in research projects and subject groups.
  • Implement and ensure adherence to research protocols.
  • Monitor patient assessments and results for adverse reactions.
  • Collect patient data, including medical histories and physical assessments.
  • Collect, prepare, and process lab specimens.
  • Collect and review lab results.
  • Maintain and enter data into databases and logs in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Perform specialized nursing duties such as arterial puncture, venipuncture, and operation of electronic monitoring equipment.
  • Administer treatment and/or medication in accordance with the research protocol.
  • Assist with surgical and/or invasive procedures.
  • Perform general laboratory duties including monitoring supply inventory, monitoring temperatures of freezers and refrigerators, cleaning equipment, and disposing of biological waste.
  • Participate in the development of internal review board submissions as requested.
  • Collaborate with multiple investigators, sponsors, and research coordinators.
  • Assist with training of new staff and provide ongoing guidance to newer staff.

What We're Looking For

  • Equivalent relevant work experience may be substituted for degree requirement.
  • Ability to obtain the following clearances prior to the start of employment: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record Check.
  • A current TB test will be required as a condition of employment.

Work Mode

This position requires onsite work at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in Lawrenceville.
