Desjardins Group seeks a Claims Legal Counsel to join our Property and Casualty Insurance Defense In-house Legal team. You will independently manage a caseload of auto accident benefits defense files from start to finish, including priority disputes and loss transfer, delivering efficient resolutions while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
What You'll Do
- Independently carry a caseload of litigation files from start to finish.
- Draft legal opinions, pleadings, and related materials.
- Attend case conferences, pre-arbitrations, and mediations.
- Conduct private arbitrations and License Appeal Tribunal (LAT) Hearings.
- Assume carriage and responsibility for delivering cost-effective and efficient resolutions of disputed claims.
- Share and contribute to the growth of legal knowledge with colleagues.
- Be part of a team focused on delivering an exceptional client experience and superior legal services.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in law, Juris Doctor, or a related field.
- A minimum of seven years of relevant experience in Accident Benefits litigation.
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
Nice to Have
- Experience with trials and/or arbitrations.
