About the Role
This role involves designing and analyzing civil and structural components for electrical substation projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications while supporting multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop structural drawings and specifications for substation foundations and support systems
- Perform calculations for load analysis, seismic design, and structural integrity
- Review site layout plans and grading designs for civil compatibility
- Coordinate with electrical and mechanical engineers on integrated project deliverables
- Conduct field investigations and site assessments when necessary
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes such as ACI, AISC, and IBC
- Prepare construction documentation packages for permitting and bidding
- Support project management with scheduling and budget estimates
- Respond to client requests and revise designs based on feedback
- Utilize CAD and structural modeling software for design development
- Participate in quality assurance and peer review processes
- Maintain accurate project records and documentation
- Assist in developing design standards and internal workflows
- Interface with contractors and consultants during construction phases
- Address technical challenges related to soil-structure interaction
- Evaluate existing structures for retrofit or expansion needs
- Apply principles of sustainable design where feasible
- Stay current with regulatory changes affecting substation infrastructure
