About the Role

This role involves leading and supporting the engineering design and technical analysis of underground civil structures, including tunnels, shafts, and subsurface systems, within a dynamic project environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct structural analysis for subsurface construction elements
  • Develop design documentation for tunneling and excavation projects
  • Perform calculations to ensure compliance with engineering standards
  • Collaborate with geotechnical specialists on site-specific challenges
  • Review construction plans for constructability and safety
  • Prepare technical reports for client and regulatory submissions
  • Support project managers in scheduling and deliverables tracking
  • Coordinate with contractors during construction phases
  • Utilize modeling software for 3D design visualization
  • Ensure designs meet seismic and load-bearing requirements
  • Participate in risk assessment and mitigation planning
  • Integrate utility systems into underground layouts
  • Evaluate material specifications for durability and performance
  • Assist in the development of construction sequencing plans
  • Conduct field inspections to verify design implementation
  • Address design changes due to site conditions
  • Apply codes and standards to all project phases
  • Engage in peer reviews of engineering deliverables
  • Support permitting efforts with technical input
  • Contribute to sustainability goals in infrastructure design
  • Maintain accurate project records and documentation
  • Interface with regulatory agencies on design compliance
  • Troubleshoot technical issues during construction
  • Mentor junior engineers on project tasks
  • Stay current with advancements in tunneling technology
