Netflix is hiring a Senior Database Architect to design, implement, and maintain scalable and efficient database solutions that meet client needs and support business objectives. This is a 100% remote role.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into robust database designs.
• Design and implement database solutions that optimize performance, reliability, and security.
• Define database standards, best practices, and guidelines, and ensure adherence across projects.
• Evaluate and recommend database technologies and tools to support business needs and future growth.
• Lead database performance tuning and optimization efforts to ensure optimal system performance.
• Develop and maintain data models, schemas, and data dictionaries.
• Implement data security measures, including access controls, encryption, and data masking.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior database developers and administrators.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in database management.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a Database Architect, Database Administrator, or similar role.
• In-depth knowledge of database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server).
• Strong understanding of relational database concepts, data modeling techniques, and normalization.
• Proficiency in SQL programming and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl).
• Experience with cloud-based database platforms (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, Google Cloud SQL).
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis) and their use cases.
• Hands-on experience with database performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Active Public Trust/MBI or ability to obtain one.

Nice to Have

• Certification in database administration or architecture (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate).
• Experience with data warehousing and business intelligence tools (e.g., Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, Tableau).
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools for database automation (e.g., Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform).
• Understanding of data governance, compliance, and security standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS).
