Role Overview:The China Sourcing & Product Development Specialist will serve as the on-the-ground representative in China to manage the full supplier relationship lifecycle, from identifying and developing factory partners to ensuring product quality and compliance. This role requires a deep understanding of Sidekick's product vision and the ability to make autonomous, informed decisions in manufacturing environments across China.
Key Responsibilities:– Identify, evaluate, and onboard new manufacturing partners across China– Conduct capability assessments and negotiate pricing, MOQs, lead times, and contract terms– Maintain and grow a vetted supplier network across key manufacturing hubs– Ensure tech pack compliance and factory adherence to specifications– Implement processes to verify compliance at pre-production, in-line, and final stages– Source materials and components for new product lines– Conduct regular on-site factory visits for quality inspections– Develop and enforce audit protocols and corrective actions– Communicate product goals clearly to factory partners– Make independent, on-the-ground decisions aligned with company objectives
Required Qualifications:– 10+ years of experience in soft goods manufacturing and sourcing in China– Established network of vetted soft goods factories– Expert knowledge of flat knit and circular knit construction– Ability to interpret and execute from complex tech packs– Strong written and spoken English– Willingness to travel extensively across China– Judgment and product understanding to operate autonomously
