Machinify is hiring a Chief of Staff to the CTO to act as a strategic force multiplier for the technology organization. You will sit at the intersection of strategy, operations, and execution, translating the CTO's vision into clear priorities and serving as the connective tissue to keep a fast-moving engineering organization aligned and accountable.
What You'll Do
- Drive the operating rhythm of the technology organization, owning quarterly and annual planning cycles including OKRs, budget, headcount, workforce planning, and resource allocation.
- Track progress against goals, surface risks early, and ensure commitments are met by building systems and accountability structures.
- Serve as a trusted thought partner to the CTO, synthesizing complex information into clear recommendations and preparing the CTO for high-stakes meetings.
- Represent the CTO's perspective, draft key communications, shape narratives around technical strategy, and ensure the CTO's time is spent on high-leverage activities.
- Act as a bridge between engineering and the rest of the business (product, finance, HR) to ensure plans are integrated with company-wide priorities.
- Facilitate decision-making across teams, resolve bottlenecks, and drive alignment on cross-organizational initiatives.
- Partner with finance to manage the technology budget end-to-end, build financial models, analyze trade-offs, and ensure wise investment.
What We're Looking For
- Operational experience in deeply technical environments.
- Track record of building and running planning processes (OKRs, budgets, headcount plans, executive reviews).
- Ability to keep a complex organization accountable without micromanaging.
- Strategic thinking: ability to connect operational details to the bigger picture and distill ambiguity into a clear point of view.
- Executive presence: comfortable representing leadership in senior forums, facilitating tough conversations, and pushing back respectfully.
- Excellent communication skills: write clearly, present confidently, and adapt messages for different audiences.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience as a Chief of Staff or other operational leader supporting a CTO or VP of Engineering.
