HII Mission Technologies is looking for an entry-level Chemical Engineer to support the Petroleum Lab at the Ground Vehicle System Center (GVSC) in Warren, MI. You'll conduct laboratory analysis on a wide range of products and ensure strict adherence to standardized testing and quality management protocols.
What You'll Do
- Perform laboratory analysis on petroleum, oil, and lubricant (POL) products including aviation fuels, diesel fuels, lubricants, greases, coolants, and hydraulic fluids.
- Execute standardized testing protocols in strict accordance with ASTM International, SAE International, and Federal Test Methods.
- Ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 Quality Management Standards, maintaining precision and traceability in all testing activities.
- Achieve and maintain technical proficiency by completing required training to attain 'Trained' or 'Expert' status on test methods and instrumentation.
- Support end-to-end laboratory operations including sample intake, work order creation, report generation, inventory management, and waste handling.
- Complete all mandatory training related to laboratory operations, safety protocols, quality assurance, and environmental compliance.
- Participate in laboratory audits for safety, quality, and environmental standards as requested.
- Conduct routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
- Promote a culture of safety by following protocols for handling, storing, and labeling chemicals in accordance with SOPs and regulations.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in physical science, engineering, or a related field; or a High School Diploma/equivalent with 4 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to lift items up to 50lbs and perform physical tasks including climbing, bending, and reaching.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to obtain a secret clearance with the U.S. Department of Defense.
Nice to Have
- A minimum of 6 months of hands-on laboratory experience conducting scientific testing, sample preparation, and data interpretation using standardized methods.
- An active secret clearance with the U.S. Department of Defense.
