AtkinsRéalis is seeking an experienced Chartered/Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in either Edinburgh or Glasgow. This role supports a growing portfolio of high-profile geotechnical projects across infrastructure—including defence, rail, highways, and water—and energy sectors such as renewables, low carbon, and nuclear. You will provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to project delivery in a diverse, collaborative environment.
What You'll Do
- Provide technical leadership and project management on geotechnical projects
- Mentor junior geotechnical engineers
- Liaise and build relationships with clients to support effective work winning and delivery
- Lead geotechnical design teams
- Ensure 'right first time' project delivery through strong commercial management
- Self-check and produce accurate technical reports
- Travel on short assignments within the UK and overseas
What We're Looking For
- Chartered status as a civil engineer or geologist
- Degree in civil engineering or geology with a postgraduate qualification in a geotechnical subject
- Proven technical leadership and project management track record
- Proven geotechnical design experience
- Numerical/analytical capabilities for structures, foundations, slopes, and anchors
- Experience using GeoStudio, Repute, Wallap or similar numerical software
- Application of CDM Regulations in design and ground investigation environments
- Excellent interpersonal and technical skills
- Excellent communication and report writing skills
- Ability to self-check work for accuracy
- Valid UK driving license
- Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas
Nice to Have
- Experience working in Design and Build environments
- Digital geotechnical engineering capability including application of AI and machine learning in geotechnical design
