Position Overview
As the Charge RN in the Primary Stroke Unit, you will provide advanced nursing leadership in a specialized neuro trauma setting recognized for high-level stroke care. You will oversee patient care delivery, lead interdisciplinary teams, and ensure adherence to clinical excellence grounded in evidence-based standards. This role demands strong clinical judgment, ethical decision-making, and a commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate nursing care using the nursing process, ensuring compliance with state regulations and organizational policies
- Model professional accountability, safety practices, and ethical conduct across all care environments
- Lead team development through mentoring, coaching, and fostering a culture of continuous learning
- Champion patient and staff safety by implementing best practices and promoting a respectful, inclusive workplace
- Collaborate with clinical partners to advance care standards and improve patient outcomes
- Support innovation in stroke and neurology care through engagement with clinical trials and emerging treatments
- Facilitate effective communication among team members, patients, and families, respecting diverse perspectives and cultural values
- Ensure responsible use of resources while maintaining high-quality care delivery
- Remain adaptable and responsive to changing priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment
Qualifications
Required: Graduate of an accredited nursing program; current RN license in Iowa or Illinois; BLS certification within three months of hire; ACLS certification within three months; completion of Mandatory Reporter training for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse within six months.
Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); specialty certification in a relevant clinical area.
Work Environment
This is an onsite position working 12-hour night shifts in central Iowa within a neuroscience-focused care network. The role utilizes remote telemetry and advanced medical technology to support patient monitoring and treatment.
