Rowan University is hiring a Chair for the Department of Medicine to provide comprehensive leadership, direction, and development for all departmental activities. Reporting to the Vice-Dean for Clinical Affairs, you will lead the department's teaching, clinical, research, and community efforts, working closely with the Dean’s Cabinet and Rowan Medicine Administration.
What You'll Do
- Lead the Department toward excellence in teaching, research, patient care delivery, administrative services, and community activities.
- Communicate and advocate for the mission, vision, and values of the University, School, and Department.
- Motivate, develop, and provide feedback to faculty and staff, grooming them for promotion.
- Oversee provision and management of direct patient care at ambulatory primary and specialty care sites.
- Develop and grow clinical services to meet market needs and monitor faculty clinical practice patterns for compliance.
- Ensure adequate faculty effort and support for undergraduate and graduate medical education programs.
- Maintain full accreditation of training programs in geriatrics.
- Encourage and support faculty pursuit of research and scholarly activity and promote cross-departmental research.
- Participate in strategic planning and foster opportunities for expansion and contractual relationships.
- Develop and manage the departmental budget and oversee administration of grant-funded programs.
- Direct recruitment, retention, and professional development of faculty and staff.
- Serve on key committees and task forces within the School, University, and affiliated hospitals.
What We're Looking For
- D.O. or M.D. degree
- AOA or ABMS Board Certified in Internal Medicine
- Prior experience in management roles
- Academic and professional experience to qualify at the rank of Professor or Associate Professor
- Valid NJ Medical License
- CDS and DEA certifications
- Demonstrated examples of leadership, teambuilding, academic strength, clinical strength, and management strength
Nice to Have
- Rank of Professor
- Experience as principal investigator of federal, foundation, or state grants
Team & Environment
The Department oversees the Divisions of Endocrinology, Rheumatology, General Internal Medicine, and Pulmonary Medicine.
Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation range: $265,000 – $315,000
