Washington University in St. Louis is hiring a Certified Coder specializing in Anesthesiology to support our medical records and billing integrity. In this remote role, you will review documentation to determine accurate billing codes and ensure proper documentation for anesthesia, pain management, and critical care services.
What You'll Do
- Review surgical documentation to identify comprehensive diagnoses and anesthesia services for accurate coding.
- Code evaluation and management services and procedures for pain management to appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes.
- Code evaluation and management services for critical care ICU to appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes.
- Contact physicians to review documentation, resolve coding questions, secure signatures, and tag files for follow-up.
- Assist with efforts to increase physician awareness of documentation requirements.
What We're Looking For
- Must have one of the following coding credentials: AHIMA (CCA, CCS, or CCS-P) OR AAPC (CPC, CPC-A, CPC-H, CPC-H-A, or one of the AAPC specialty-specific coding credentials).
Nice to Have
- Previous coding experience or experience equivalent to an associate’s degree in a related field.
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
- Associate degree in Medical Coding & Billing.
- Skills in Computer Systems, CPT Coding, ICD-10 Procedure Coding System, Medical Billing and Coding, and Medical Terminology.

- Compensation: $25.30 - $37.94 per hour.
